The main agronomist of landscape services of the Sport works department CJS “FC Shakhtar” Alexander Ryabchenko and the director of the "Domen-Agro" Anatoliy Yavorskiy21.05.2008 Comments on using of the Domen-A cover
“…We used the cover Domen-A with a density 70g/m2 during wintertime 2007/2008 for football pitch protection of STB “Kirsha” and CJS FC “Shakhtar”, which have artificial heating. Undoubted advantages of these covers include: - good water-, light- and air- transmitting ability; - possibility to assemble and dismantle them quickly; - essential economy of electrical power (about 40%); - low price; We also would like to note that even in wintertime when the temperature was very low, we managed to maintain the temperature underneath the cover at a needed level without harming the grass. Underneath this cover the pitch was in a good condition and needed only airing 1-2 times in 7-10 days to avoid multiplication of mycelial fungus and other unwanted micro flora. Regular airing and butt-joint displacement also allows to avoid appearance of yellow ethylated stripes on the grass in fastening places. In early spring we used the cover without artificial heating. Using this cover allowed us to accelerate the photosynthesis process, which made the color of grass brighter and assisted in germination of new lateral browses. We could refer high maintainability of these covers to their advantages, which is really important for small repair works on damaged widths. Also we would like to note some disadvantages of covers which need to be eliminated. First of all, fastening elements need supplementary strengthening on the surface of the cover. Considering our experience of using these covers, the preceding generation of covers with a density 80g/m2 had higher durability characteristics. Decreasing the material density to 70g/m2 led to a partial decrease of its strength and steadiness against wind. On the whole it is necessary to say that protective covers “Domen” meet all requirements that arise during preparation of a football pitch for trainings…”

Our comment: In 2003-2006 on the base FC “Shakhtar” our covers with a density 80g/m2 were used. In 2007 to increase air permeability we made two covers with a density 70g/m2 for FC “Shakhtar”. The practice of exploiting these covers showed decreasing of their wear-resistance and strength in comparison with the cover of 80g/m2 density (along with such positive moments as air permeability increase) Thus we got back to produce covers with the density not less than 80g/m2. Moreover we improved fastening system of covers, joining elements between each width and fastening elements to the surface of the pitch were strengthened. |
